Ladies 'High Tea' - Oct 21

Updated: Oct 19, 2021

Report for ladies day on 6 October 2021

This was our fourth outing and another enjoyable day for the SACC ladies attending with

further events to be advised every first Wednesday of every second month. Some of the ladies met at Coleman Terrace where we car pooled and travelled on to Lynne Hall’s beautiful home for “High Tea” in Mount Barker, with the following members in the group:

Cheryl Barreau, Marylyn Bell; Jenny Howard; Rae Mighall; Vivien Pegler; Sharon Sakko;

Cheryl Pullman; Carmel Shell; Noreen Smith & Lynne Hall as our host.

On arriving Lynne and Molly the toy poodle welcomed us. Miss Maple & Miss Oak had set up the High Tea with the theme - Alice in Wonderland. The table was indeed set for royalty with vintage crockery, shining silverware and tiered stands filled with Tuna, capers mayonnaise with sweet gherkins ribbon sandwiches, Curried egg with mayonnaise ribbon sandwiches & homemade sausage rolls. Sweets included lemon meringue pies, chocolate caramel tart, baked cheesecake, citrus tart, macaroon tart and scones

with homemade jam and fresh cream. The guests were offered English Breakfast, French

Earl Grey & Peppermint teas and coffee served in the silverware. Just divine!

After tasting the beautiful food and drinks it was time to go for a wander around the garden.

Looking at the orchard, the chickens and the view in the valley. We were very fortunate to

have a beautiful sunny day. Lynne & Cheryl P brought out the home made cards where we were in awe of what can be achieved with a little bit of creativity. The ladies were divided into two groups, one to make a birthday card and the other group a Christmas greeting card. Most of us had never done card making and were perhaps a little nervous of what we were hoping to make. Our teachers, Cheryl & Lynne were very patient and assisted us to create magnificent cards. By this time we were hungry again would you believe – well it was afternoon tea and we enjoyed the cakes and sandwiches and Lynne’s “secret recipe” cake.

A date will be set for the next Ladies Day in the new year and we encourage more ladies to

join us for friendship and networking.
