Cape Jervis

Wednesday 31 May, 2023

A small group of 13 members in 8 vehicles set off on a rather windy but mild temperature morning, with the first stop at the Finniss General Store for morning tea. Here we had bit of a problem with staff not showing up for work and extra time needed to all get served, but no-one complained with all having a good chat. It had been agreed that we would call in to Waitpinga Beach and Cape Jervis on the way to Yankalilla for lunch. Waitpinga proved to be very pleasant so extra time was spent taking in the view. An executive decision was then made to forego Cape Jervis to make up time and a further executive decision was made to short cut through Torrens Vale to Yankalilla to ensure we got there before the kitchen closed. Thanks to Cameron for directing us onto a road I was not familiar with.

We made it to the Yankalilla Hotel at just on 1 o’clock for a very enjoyable lunch and more storytelling. While a few made their own departure, others travelled through Myponga, Sellicks Beach, Willunga and over the hills at The Range back to their homes.

All in all, despite the travels not going to the planned route, I found it the most pleasant, friendly and enjoyable outing I have had with the club.
