We has a very large group of members assemble at Colman Tce for the special run set by our Treasurer, Peter Barreau. Peter gave us all a detailed rundown on the roads we were to take.
In very pleasant sunny conditions the group headed out of Strath-albyn on our designated run sheet, first stop; Meadows Bakery via the very picturesque Gemmell Road. Here we caught up with Bob & Elaine Seller for a very pleasant and chatty morning tea out on the enclosed verandah. I was told by long-time resident of Mead-ows, Ken Wittam, that the Bakery building was once the Headmas-ter’s home.
After we had all been fed and watered a move was made under instructions from Peter Barreau to depart the members enthusias-tically followed the run sheet as best they could, it helps if you can keep up with the man who designed the run as some had a bit of back tracking to get on the right roads.
This specific run saw us on some of the most delightful roads close to Willunga and a slow circle towards the coast with some roads requiring some quick gear-changing. We drove along Wickham Hill Road, Pages Flat Road and Hindmarsh tiers Road and I am sure some of these featured when the Classic Adelaide was happening.
We then wound our way down to the edge of Victor Harbour and then left along the Victor road to the Port Elliott Hotel. There was plenty of adjacent parking near the hotel – see the photos.
It was very pleasing to see some members attending for the first time with Steve Edwards in his Chrysler, Peter Casley & his daugh-ter in his near new Holden Monaro and Also David Paterson who was staying in Middleton also came along for the meal.
So the group were:
Peter & Cheryl Barreau – Austin Healey; Jan & I – MG6; Rae & Cameron Mighall – MGB; Ken & Lorraine wittam – Jaguar; Brenton & Heather McMurtrie – Holden Commodore; Rob & Elaine Seller – Mercedes; Roy Shelton & Carmel Chell – Daimler; Keith bowler & Roy Smith – MGB; Peter Casley & Julie – Holden; Graham Simpson – ford Fairlane; Gilbert Haywood – A Model Ford; David Walsh, Carlene Vandenakker & Rivette Murphy – Citroen; Steve Edwards – VIP Chrysler and Ian & Marylyn Bell - Chrysler V8.
