REPORT -THE NON-WHISPERING WALL
Once upon a time there was a well known group of car tragics from Strathalbyn who set off last Sunday October 17th 2021 in a variety of really old cars with instructions to call in in Wistow or a coffee charge on a perfect day and then scoot through the hills to a delightful town called Williamstown, although we did not meet William himself we did call in and ask at the Olde Bakehouse Tavern.
However the leader of this group failed to mention to the Old Bakery Tavern landlord that our steeds were the latest model with a lot more horse power than conventional models and this upset the landlord as his staff were somewhat contrary, however he settled down when he saw so many happy faces and the fact that our happy group has a tendency to take over the Tavern being some 30 in the party and we had money to spend!
After what turned out to be a great selection of offerings the group headed off for the main reason for the trip – to listen and observe the strange phenomenon of sound traveling around a concrete dam wall. Unfortunately several days prior to our run workmen had come in to do some major maintenance and the whole access way to the dam was barricaded off – bummer!
After this some of the group decided to call in at Melba’s Chocolate Factory and then headed back home-.
On the run were:
Ian & Marylyn Bell, John & Jenny Howard, Barry & Josie Marr, Ian Hogben, Kate Knight, Jason Wotton, Mike Greenwood & Jenny Way, Vivien & David Pegler, Adrian & Sharon Sakko, Roy Shelton & Carmel Chell, Rod & Jill Schultz, David & Penny Leonard, Lorraine & Ken Winen, Roy & Noreen Smith, Gordon & Di Thorpe, & David Coutts, Peter Sutton and Rory Liebelt.
