Arthur Clisby Memorial - Wirrina

Updated: Sep 22, 2020

This event is organised y the Historic Motoring Vehicle Club of SA in memory of one of the most inspirational men involved in giving us all the opportunity to have older cars and motor bikes placed onto the Special System – Historic Registration – his name was Arthur Clisby.

Those who drove from Strathalbyn took the pleasant drive via the Ashbourne Road then right onto Bull Creek Rd down to the turn-off to Mt Compass then via the Victor Harbour Rd back towards Willunga and Left onto the Pages Flat Road to Myponga then straight through Yankalilla and Normanville to Wirrina.

This event has been held twice and each timeheld at Wirrina around the oval down near the marina with cars and bikes parked under the big gumtrees and beside the caravan park. Some of the organisers from HMVC said that there were 120 vehicles in attendance and our club members had a total of 7 historic vehicles there.

There was a small shop beside the oval however most of us had brought our own picnic lunch and drinks and sat around enjoying the sunshine and looking around at all the wonderful machines.

In attendance were:

Bob & Elaine Sellar; Doug & Vivienne Hill; Gilbert & Heather Haywood; Stan & Lorraine Quick; Gordon & Di Thorpe & her son David.; Cameron Mighall & Peter Barreau ; Roy & Noreen Smith ; and Myself.
