Fish n Chip Run - Aug 22

AUGUST 2022 FISH AND CHIP RUN.

The day was pretty cold and windy but 14 members decided to brave the elements and get their cars out for another Fish & Chip run to Port Elliott. The general decision at the start was to buy rather than BBQ which was a pretty good decision as very mush hands in pockets sort of day around 111 degrees. Never mind we all started with a heart starter at the Finniss General Store all seated inside as not too many had ventured out, the carrot cake was also a winner! together with a nice hot coffee.

From there the decision was made to take the scenic drive via Currency Creek which pleased all as we had to take it very cautiously over the single lane fords with about 6 inches of running creek water to negotiate. From there we took the usual road avoiding Goolwa along Airport Road to Middleton, just after leaving Middleton we turned Left and called in at a beach and climbed a platform to see if there were any whales but no joy here so drove on to Port Elliott and parked adjacent to the Flying Fish restaurant.

All were able to find seating close by and we all enjoyed a variety of fish packs. Along on the run were:

Ian & Marylyn Bell – Valiant V8; first timer Barry Martin joined us to Finniss – Mercedes Benz 350 CL; Roy Shelton & Carmel Chell Daimler Mk2 V8; Colin & Tricia Goodrich – Austin A40 Saloon; Bob & Elaine Sellar - Mercedes Benz 280; Stan & Lorraine Quick - Mercedes Benz V8; Roy Liebelt – Modern Mercedes Benz and Jenny Way and myself in our MGC Roadster.
